[SOLVED]The system cannot find the path specified in Visual Studio Code for Perl

While trying to run my first perl program on Visual Studio Code, I encountered error as depicted below

[Running] /usr/bin/perl -w “c:\Users\amkusharma\Desktop\explore\tempCodeRunnerFile.pl”
The system cannot find the path specified.
[Done] exited with code=1 in 0.145 seconds

After some moments of debugging, I realised my installation directory in Windows is not as mentioned above while it is Perl6.4 version for which I have to change the shebang so that it can directly point to perl.exe with absolute path

C:\Perl64\bin\perl.exe

& Woila it worked

[Running] C:\Perl64\bin\perl.exe -w “c:\Users\amkusharma\Desktop\explore\hello_world.pl”
Hello World!
[Done] exited with code=0 in 0.174 seconds

Google Chrome takes time to connect to the Internet

Guys, recently it happened to Google Chrome installed on my home desktop, It was taking around 1-2 minutes to connect to the Internet. I tried to check if there is any Extensions(installed on Chrome) which is affecting this but couldn’t find any.

After some Googling got to know that it is due to check by Google Chrome to resolve proxy( which you can confirm if  “Resolving proxy” message appears in the lower-left corner of the browser window)

Follow below steps to resolve this issue:

  • Click on the Settings from 3dots on the right upside corner
  • Search for “Proxy”

proxy

  • Click on Open proxy settings
  • Under Local Area Network(Lan Settings), Click on LAN Settings

proxy 2

  • Deselect “Automatic detect Settings”

proxy3

  • Woila! You can now connect instantly

Note: Kindly do let me know if this doesn’t resolve this issue.

Can’t use an undefined value as a symbol reference at /usr/lib/perl5/5.10.0/Net/FTP/dataconn.pm line 54

The error occurs when Passive is 1 – and occurs not if Passive is 0.

my $ftp = Net::FTP->new($server, Debug => 0, Passive => 0)

For more information:

In the active mode, the client starts listening on a random port for incoming data connections from the server (the client sends the FTP command PORT to inform the server on which port it is listening). Nowadays, it is typical that the client is behind a firewall (e.g. built-in Windows firewall) or NAT router (e.g. ADSL modem), unable to accept incoming TCP connections.

For this reason the passive mode was introduced and is mostly used nowadays. It is a default for WinSCP too. Using the passive mode is preferable because most of the complex configuration is done only once on the server side, by experienced administrator, rather than individually on a client side, by (possibly) inexperienced users.
